Texas Defeated HB 12!

Congratulations!

Thanks to your hard work, the Texas Senate HB 12 died late Wednesday night, keeping our Texas communities safe!

Sold by proponents as a bill to eliminate “sanctuary cities,” HB 12 would have had catastrophic consequences on the state of Texas.  Similar to Arizona’s flawed SB 1070, the bill would have prevented local police departments from keeping Texas cities and neighborhoods safe by requiring them to enforce federal immigration laws.  Fortunately, law enforcement officials, community organizations, and individuals like you from all over Texas joined forces to defeat this bill and stand for our community safety.

A group of senators banded together to block this dangerous immigration bill in a vote on Tuesday evening.  Among the senators who voted against SB 12 were Senators Davis, Ellis, Gallegos, Hinojosa, Lucio, Rodriguez, Uresti, Van De Putte, Watson, Whitmire, West, and Zaffirini.

Don't let your senators' votes go unnoticed!  Send your senators a letter thanking them for their leadership in opposing this harmful bill!  And if they voted wrong, let them know that you are disappointed.

Not sure who your senator is or how they voted?  Don't worry.  We have it all tracked for you.  Just fill out the information below and we'll set you up with the correct letters for your senators.

It’s important for our elected officials to know that we care about how their votes affect our families and communities, and your calls and letters did just that.  Thanks again for all your efforts to defeat this harmful bill.
